How to Build a Website
It's pretty hard to make your own website, so here I am going to give you the basics.
Type
The first thing you need to do is pick what kind of site you are making. It can be a graphics site, blog, help site, fan site, or whatever else you want it to be. Here are some examples of different types of sites.
Graphics Site
Blog
Help Site
Fan site
These examples here are not limited. You can expand as far as you want. The more you expand, the more content, the more visitors you will get.
The Name
Picking a name is very important. You need to think of something catchy. You don't want a name that is really long or has symbols in it. Symbols are pointless and you should avoid them. You need to pick something unique. You can always find a good name by picking a word and going to the Thesaurus and finding something different. For Example, if you want something that means beautiful, you can go to the thesaurus, and I picked angelic. Some people like more than one word in their name to make it more unique. You could do something like Angelic-Soul. There are a million different names out there, I’m sure you can think of one. Just be Creative.
Hosting
You will need somewhere for your site to be hosted now. There are plenty of places around the internet you can use. Some hosting sites have ads, while others don't. Here is a list of some free sites you can use. Free webs, Free Hostia. There are plenty more out there, but I think these two are the most popular. After that, you can get a domain by paying for it, or you can use a free one like Co.Nr, Shorturl. Our host at Unloadeed is Byethost which I personally like the best.
The Layout
The Layout is pretty important. If people like your layout, they will stay and check out your site. It's best to have a layout that you made, but if you’re not good at making them, then I would say go to one of the million sites that offer them, and use a premade one.
Content
You need content on your website. It could be graphics, information, or whatever you want. But make sure your visitors have enough to keep coming back. If you have a graphics site, make sure you have plenty of graphics for your visitors, if you have a lot, they will keep coming back for more. If you have a fan site, make sure you have a lot of information for your visitors. You would need to include everything about what your fan site is on, pictures, information, and whatever else is necessary.
Activeness
You need to be active. People won’t come to a site that only updates once a month. People like to see new things at least once a week. Being active gives you new content and new things for your visitors.
Advertise
Advertising will bring your visitors. You already know how to keep them; you just need to get them. This is sometimes the easiest part, but can be the hardest part. You need to advertise by posting your site everywhere. Don't go around spamming, or going to other sites saying come to my site.
The End
Now you have a website with everything you need. Everything else is up to you. If you need more help feel free to contact me.
